An external enclosure
A curtain wall encloses a building without serving as its primary load-bearing structure. Glass and other infill panels sit within a supporting facade system, which connects back to the building structure.
Two assembly approaches
Stick systems are assembled and glazed on site. Unitised systems arrive as larger assemblies glazed in a factory. The choice affects installation planning and how the facade is divided into elements.
Coordinate the interfaces
Discuss the facade alongside floor edges, adjacent walls and openings. Request the relevant sections and performance documentation early, then have the project team resolve the connections as part of the building design.
